Original Project

The Effects of Landslide Volume on Tsunami Height/Runup

The original direction of this research concerned the effects of landslide volume on tsunami height/runup specifically looking at the effects of grain size and wave frequency on runup and wave height. This, however, was unfeasible due to equipment limitations.

  • Tank too shallow

    • Could not drop soil into the tank to simulate an underwater landslide

  • Difficult to measure runup

    • Reflection off the surface of the water

Would have damaged the sedimentary tank if loads of soil were dropped in.
